“The Black Angel” Sonata for tenor trombone & piano was commissioned by American trombonist, Jonathan S. Allen of the University of Iowa in October 2025. It is in three movements: I. The Cemetery, II. Remembering Eddie, and III. The Black Angel.
This sonata was given a world premiere by Jonathan with pianist, Jonathan Fisher, at the “International Trombone Festival 2026”, on 31st July at the Golden Hall of the Latvian Society House in Riga, Latvia.
