“Miniature Pieces” for bassoon, vibraphone and piano is a collection of four short pieces of different characteristics, specially written for a performance by the composer and her friends. The first piece, Waltz, is a light-hearted waltz with dialogues mainly between the bassoon and vibraphone. The second piece, Three-In- One, is a little étude where all three instruments play in unison, sounding like one. The third piece, Reflections, is a reflective piece in ternary form, and the last and final piece, Against All Odds, was inspired by Dave Brubeck's Blue Rondo à la Turque.
World premiere on the 17th of August 2009 at the Esplanade Recital Studio in Singapore, by Aw Yong Tian (bassoon), Ng Sok Wah (vibraphone) and the composer on the piano.
Miniature Pieces can be found in the composer’s “Music Diaries” album, available on Apple Music, Amazon Music and Spotify.
